Global Warming Video

Published by Spencer at 12:32 pm under Useful tech

Whether you consider global warming to be a scare, or an impending disaster, it’s an important issue in our lives. I recently came across a short presentation by a high school science teacher that shares some interesting perspective on the global warming issue from a cost/benefit perspective.

I’m asking you to watch the first minute or two of this video clip on YouTube. It’s 10 minutes long total, but all I ask is that you take a couple minutes to see if it has value to you. I think it will.

GW is truly an important issue that has been ignored for too long. I think many try to do “their part” in prevention. I was talking to my son, Matt, this morning about just this subject. He reminded me of the steps I’ve taken to help (eg. using nylon and canvas bags for ALL my shopping, recycling more than what goes into the garbage, using energy efficient light bulbs, turning down the thermostat and leaving it there…or off). Problem is, not everyone does “their part”. Nor is it the major issue of our vast problem, though any action will help. It seems it is more within the power of our corporations….big business. And many of us work for those corps. Why aren’t we helping the execs find ways to fix the problems instead of expecting them to just do it? Maybe we are more concerned with doing “our part” and pushing the responsibility over to those execs. Maybe we think they won’t listen. It is a problem; there are solutions. Are we more afraid of action or consequences? We really need to remember we are each a pebble in the mountain called civilization. To move a mountain, it starts with one pebble at a time.
